Despite the ongoing war conflict in eastern Ukraine, supporting the reconstruction of country, strategically located between Europe and Russia, already makes sense. Efforts to stabilize this country as soon as possible are in the international interest, therefore various states provide it with financial, material, but also professional assistance and know-how in many areas, such as the economy, infrastructure, energy, security and others.

One of the significant events connected with the restoration of Ukraine was the international fair ReBuild Ukraine 2023, which took place in Warsaw on the February, 15 – 16. The goal of the fair was to present to all the participants and visitors what current projects and opportunities for business and investment are offered in this area. Hundreds of companies and organizations from 22 countries of the world met here, between them participants from the Great Britain, Austria, Belgium, Finland and even from Korea. This large international participation made it possible to establish new contacts and exchange experience and know-how in the field of infrastructure renewal – in the area of road and bridges reconstruction, modernization of industrial enterprises or construction of new energy sources. The fair also showed opportunities for investment in the IT, healthcare and education sectors.

Moreover, there were also professional seminars and lectures and two large separate conferences on the topic of investment and opportunities for renewal, which were visited by a number of statesmen and important representatives of European countries. Germany, Italy, Denmark and our republic had official participation in the fair.

The Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics was represented at the fair by Kryštof Šulc from the Department of Cognitive Systems and Neuroscience and Michal Huptych from the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Assistive Technologies. The fair was also an unique opportunity to meet with the Minister of Industry and Trade Josef Síkela, who promised to take over the patronage of the project aimed at the reconstruction of Ukraine, the implementation of which is already underway at the CIIRC. Furthermore, a meeting was held with Tomáš Kopečný, representative of the Government of the Czech Republic in the area of reconstruction of Ukraine, about the possibilities of financing the project’s activities. The negotiations will continue in Prague.

The most popular at the fair was the Ukrainian pavilion, which featured stands from 23 communities that suffered damage as a result of the invasion. Visitors could thus meet, for example, mayors, members of city councils, members of associations, etc. CIIRC representatives, thanks to the cooperation with Inspireli Awards, addressed individual representatives with specific visions, ideas and possibilities of help. The memorandum on cooperation signed between the Inspireli Awards and the Mykolaiv Oblast Military Administration and between the Inspireli Awards and the city of Mykolaiv were of a great benefit in the communication with representatives of municipalities. On the basis of the joint project of CTU CIIRC and Inspireli Awards, a preliminary cooperation was agreed concerning the architectural designs for the Dnipro International Airport, the main avenue in Irpin and the National University of State Tax Service in Irpin.

We firmly believe that we will build on the contacts made at the fair in Warsaw and further deepen the cooperation of CTU CIIRC on the reconstruction of Ukraine.
