On January 30, 2023, Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš and Director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of CTU Ondřej Velek signed the Memorandum on Cooperation in the Development of the Construction Industry. This will be implemented mainly by the National Center for Construction 4.0, which operates at the institute. The cooperation will contribute to the development of information technologies in the construction industry and their practical implementation. Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Bartoš further discussed current topics in the  construction field with representatives of the construction industry.

The memorandum, which formalizes the start of active cooperation, responds, among other things, to the lack of discussion between actors in the construction industry: the state, companies and academia. The cooperation between the National Center for Construction 4.0 (NCS 4.0) and the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic will be implemented mainly in the form of mutual consultations and the exchange of information on important events.

During his visit to the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC) of CTU, Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Bartoš introduced the vision in the field of digitization of the construction industry, the form of the Building Act and the concept of affordable housing. In the panel discussion, the key impacts of the mentioned topics on the construction industry were presented.

The digitization of construction management and spatial planning are absolutelly necessary to speed up the processes that take place within the construction industry. During this year, we will therefore gradually launch individual services related to construction permits so that in July 2024 it will be possible to implement a complete digital procedure for construction procedures. For citizens, the most important thing is the web Portal of the Builder, through which the initial communication with the authorities will take place and at the same time it will be a source of data, for example, about the territory or about buildings,“ comments on the content of the cooperation Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš.

In the Ministry for Regional Development, the National Center for Construction 4.0 is gaining a strong partner with whom it will be able to consult and promote the necessary changes in a field that has such a great innovative potential,“ welcomes the cooperation Dr. Ondřej Velek, director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, CTU.

Together with the ministry, we want to speed up and make the building permit process more efficient. The fragmentation of the construction industry in the field of digitization is extensive, which leads to a lower rate of information transfer. Mutual cooperation on the unification of construction management is therefore crucial,“ said NCS 4.0 Director Radoslav Sovják.

Deputy Prime Minister Bartoš visited also the RICAIP Testbed for Industry 4.0. During this visit he had also discussions with the scientific director of CIIRC CTU prof. Vladimír Mařík and the chairman of the board of the National Center for Industry 4.0 Jiří Kabelka regarding the possibility of joining the excellent European infrastructure of testbeds for the use of innovations and the connection of technological projects in the field of industry and construction.
