The chapter “Applying Industry 4.0 Principles to Smart and Resilient Cities” explores how Industry 4.0 principles can be applied beyond manufacturing, specifically to the management and development of smart and resilient cities. The authors demonstrate how technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, digital twins, advanced data analytics, and autonomous systems can enhance urban infrastructure, transportation, energy management, and emergency response. The chapter emphasizes the importance of improving cities’ ability to respond to disruptions, strengthen resilience, and support sustainable development through intelligent, data-driven management.
