The abstract:
The resource-constrained project scheduling problem with flexible resource profiles (FRCPSP) is a generalization of the RCPSP where for each activity a work content is given, which has to be allocated between the start and the finish time of the activity. Hence, next to the start time of activities, a schedule comprises the decision about the duration and the allocation of the work content between the start and the finish time for the activities. The FRCPSP has been introduced in 2003 in the context of real-world application of pharmaceutical research projects. Since, then different models and methods as well as applications have been proposed in the literature. In this talk we will present the FRCPSP, discuss available MIP-formulations as well as heuristics and will present work on the use of FRCPSP to solve different real-world optimization problems.

Rainer Kolisch is a full professor for Operations Management at the Operations & Technology Department of the TUM School of Management at the Technical University of Munich. His research centers on the application of Operations Research methods for analyzing and optimizing Operations Management problems. In particular, he is addressing Scheduling, Health Care Operations, Airport Operations, Project Scheduling and Management, as well as Make-to-Order and Make-to-Engineer Operations.

The seminar is organized by Zdeněk Hanzálek (CIIRC CTU in Prague), Michael Pinedo (New York University) and Guohua Wan (Shanghai Jiao Tong).
