The Ministry of Education (MŠMT) has revised the rules for projects under the Jan Amos Komenský Operational Programme, with open access under the CC BY 4.0 licence now applying only to peer-reviewed scholarly articles and not to conference proceedings. Researchers express mixed feelings about the new rules, with some criticising the high publication fees, which they consider unnecessary. Open science experts point to the need to seek sustainable publishing models and criticise the current funding system, which supports high profits for commercial publishers.
