Sub-project is concerned with the following topics:
Modelling of complex technological processes, power systems and machines
The activities will be focused on the development of tools for high-fidelity modelling and numerically efficient simulation of technological components (steam turbine, nuclear reactor subsystems, synchronous generator, furnace and heat distribution systems, etc.) and their interconnected units within complex industrial processes, conventional and nuclear power plant systems and power networks.
Optimal control design for complex processes and distributed parameter systems
The research will be focused on the development of novel control strategies and their implementation in industrial processes, power systems and mechatronic systems in the context of Industry 4.0. The key objective is to automate the process of control system implementation, its initialization, and control parameter adaptation throughout the life cycle of the controlled technology.
Combinatorial optimization algorithms for planning and scheduling in industry
The algorithms will be used by the designers of robotic cells to plan collaboration of robots, to schedule distribution of the tasks among them and to anticipate alternative production plans. The solution will optimize on various aspects of the system, such as robot speeds, path selection, assignment of operations, and order of operations.
High-performance and energy-efficient control of industrial electrical drives
The aim is to develop advanced control strategies of AC motors which are able to track these changes and to adapt the control law in a way that the efficiency is maximized in a whole operating range. This approach will help to reduce motor warm ups due to losses minimization. The motor control will require lower derating and the maximization of active power will be achieved.
