On January 7, 2025, we celebrated the start of the new year with a toast. Director Dr. Ondřej Velek and Scientific Director Prof. Vladimír Mařík welcomed the employees and presented the priorities for 2025. They also evaluated the main achievements and challenges of the past year.
Looking back at 2024
The year 2024 confirmed that the institute can function successfully even in difficult conditions. After 12 years since its founding, CIIRC CTU has become a stable and advanced institution. Individual departments have achieved a high degree of independence and sustainability.
The foundation of success remains top-notch scientists who not only push the boundaries of knowledge, but also educate and inspire the young generation of scientists.
Outlook for 2025
2025 brings several key goals and opportunities:
- After five years, the International Evaluation Panel (MEP) will evaluate the quality of higher education institutions in June. Our goal is to once again defend the “excellent” rating we received in 2020.
- Large scientific infrastructures: We are preparing for tenders for projects, the acquisition of which will be key to the further development of the institute.
- Support for prestigious grants: The management will actively support significant projects such as ERC and ERC CZ grants.
- Personnel shifts: New promising scientists are joining the leadership of groups and departments, which allows the institute to grow dynamically at the personnel level as well.
- International cooperation: We continue cooperation with Japan and the South Asian region, while we are newly establishing a partnership with the University of Cambridge in the field of testbeds. Another milestone will be the opening of the Mařík Institute of Artificial Intelligence in India.
- Networking in Europe: We emphasize European projects and other international engagements.
- Cooperation with industry: Thanks to centers such as NCP 4.0, RICAIP Testbed Prague, NCS 4.0 and CCF, the connection between science and industrial partners is being strengthened. This cooperation opens up new possibilities for the application of research and brings significant results in the area of knowledge dissemination.
At the end of the meeting, the management thanked all employees for their dedicated work and wished them much success and satisfaction in the new year.
