Abstract:
The goal of the project is to significantly innovate the Golem Flexi automated bagging system developed and manufactured by the project coordinator, Nomatech s.r.o. The first innovation will involve replacing the current single-purpose handling devices—specifically, the mechanism that prepares the bag for filling (to be replaced by Robot A) and the mechanism that removes the filled bag (now Robot B). These robots—manipulators with six degrees of freedom—will enable higher line throughput and greater adaptability to a variety of bags for filling. The second innovation will be the expansion of the line with sensors and processing capabilities that allow for the application of machine perception methods, such as computer vision (e.g., to verify proper bag stitching or welding, correct printing, or detect other bag damage), or the addition of weight-measuring sensors to the robots. The third innovation will be the creation of an add-on software environment built on top of the existing programmable logic controllers (PLCs), which will allow for the evaluation of data provided by the machine perception module and its use to generate rapid feedback loops to improve the control of the entire machine.
