CIIRC CTU Develops Own Prototype of CIIRC RP95 Respirator / Half Mask
Lets Beat the COVID-19 via Distributed Production
CIIRC CTU has been contributing to the fight against COVID-19. At the RICAIP Centre of Excellence supported by EU resources, CIIRC CTU has developed a professional model of protective half-mask under the name “CIIRC RP95-3D”.
Since the very beginning, the goal was to make a prototype that can be produced anywhere in the world on the principles of distributed production. Distributed production allows to compensate the local lack of production capacities or resources.
In the second half of March 2020, the CIIRC CTU researchers developed and certified the prototype of the advanced respirator “CIIRC RP95-3D” in just one week.
The CIIRC RP95-3D is a personal protective equipment – half-mask – with a P3 replacegeable external filter which has been certified as a kit according to EN 140:1999 norm. It meets the same or higher degree of protection as a FFP3 class respirator.
The mask can be reused thanks to proven sterilization and disinfection procedures. Sterilization of the half-mask is possible in a steam sterilizer (autoclave). The integrity of the mask after sterilization (in the National Reference Laboratory of the EAA) was successfully confirmed by subsequent testing at the Occupational Safety Research Institute.
Disinfection of the mask is possible by spraying with an alcohol-based disinfectant solution (85% ethanol). This procedure was verified in cooperation with the team of the Czech Society of Cardiology and their colleagues virologists.
If you own a HP MultiJet Fusion 3D printer, please visit www.RP95.cz to download the printing data and instruction how to produce your own CIIRC RP95-3D half-mask in your country.
If you do not possess HP MJF 3D printer, please pay attention to the FAQs bellow. Thank you for your understanding.
Currently, a new model of the mask RP95-M has been developed together with the university spin-off company TRIX Connection and the CARDAM company for the mass production by injection molding. In June 2020, the RP95-M mask has got the CE certification. You can learn about this new model also HERE. If you are interested in ordering this mask, please contact CARDAM directly.

Whether printed on a 3D printer or produced by injection molding, the RP95 half-mask can be reused, after disinfection and filter material replacement – unlimitedly.
CTU’s spin-off company TRIX Connections, s.r.o. as the exclusive CTU license holder undertakes to provide cooperation with production companies and participate in further research and development of this protective device as part of the fight against the COVID-19 illness.
