Milan Němý, a researcher in the Department of Cognitive Systems and Neuroscience, has received the prestigious Junior Faculty Award at the AD/PD™ 2025 International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases and related neurological disorders. This award is granted annually to early-career scientists with outstanding research achievements, based on their publication record and the scientific quality of their accepted conference presentation.

At the conference, Milan Němý delivered a talk titled “Validation of cholinergic white matter biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies.” The presentation builds on his previous research published in the high-impact journal Brain, which earned him the Jan Bureš Award in 2024 for the best neuroscience publication of 2023.

This recognition underscores the importance of the ongoing research line focused on cholinergic white matter biomarkers in neurodegenerative diseases, a field with strong potential to improve early diagnosis and deepen our understanding of the pathophysiology of both Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies.

“I see the Junior Faculty Award as continued recognition of this research direction, and as a strong motivation to further advance it,” said Milan Němý upon receiving the award.

“Receiving the Junior Faculty Award at AD/PD 2025 is a significant professional honor for me. I deeply appreciate being selected by the expert committee of one of the largest and most prestigious international conferences in Alzheimer’s research. I take this as a clear signal that my work is meaningful and considered valuable by the international scientific community,” he added.

AD/PD™ 2025: A Leading Platform in Neurodegenerative Disease Research

The AD/PD™ 2025 Conference, held April 1–5 in Vienna and online, is a major international event in the field of neurodegenerative disorders. It annually brings together leading scientists from around the world to share cutting-edge findings on the mechanisms, prevention, and treatment of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases and related conditions.

The Junior Faculty Award included not only an official diploma presented during the opening ceremony, but also full coverage of all conference-related expenses. The award was contingent upon the recipient delivering a scientific lecture within the official conference program.

Congratulations to Milan Němý on receiving the Junior Faculty Award – we wish him continued success in his research!
