On Friday, September 26, CIIRC CTU hosted another edition of the popular science outreach event, Researchers’ Night. Between 5 and 10 p.m., hundreds of visitors of all ages flowed through the RICAIP Testbed Prague and the adjacent atrium to explore and try out the latest technologies—firsthand. This year’s theme: WEALTH—in every sense of the word.
Visitors had the chance to:
-
Draw in 3D space using HoloLens 2 glasses, creating digital objects controlled by gestures, voice, and eye movement—with digital art floating right above their heads.
-
Meet Pepper the humanoid robot, who showed off animals, told jokes, generated images based on what it “saw,” and delighted both kids and adults.
-
Remotely control RC cars over a 5G network and experience real-time teleoperation—technology with big potential for industry and emergency services.
-
Grab a refreshment at the RoboBar, where a robotic bartender served soda and non-alcoholic drinks without a single human touch—and won plenty of fans for its style.
-
Test their strategic skills against a robotic checkers opponent, where a camera and AI analyzed moves and adapted the gameplay in real time.
-
Watch an upgraded autonomous pallet truck locate, load, and deliver cargo—completely on its own, no human input required.
-
Explore the advanced PyMES system, which demonstrated how smart automation can manage manufacturing and recycling—shown in action with a Fischertechnik model.
Thank You!
A huge thank you to everyone who visited us—kids, students, parents, and curious passersby. And especially to the teams who made this year’s program happen and brought technological wealth to life: Testbed for Industry 4.0 – RICAIP, the Robotic Perception team, the Intelligent Systems for Industry team, and the Department of Cognitive Systems and Neuroscience.
We’ll see you next year—Researchers’ Night 2026 is already on our radar!
