Abstract:

In recent years, medical facilities in the Czech Republic have been exposed to an increased risk of cyber-attacks, including several attacks that have been directly successful. As the number of medical facilities grows and the number of technical means that are theoretically or even practically attackable grows almost exponentially, the question of conceptual provision of access to cyber security also becomes more important. Because hospitals share part of the infrastructure, this shared infrastructure is also a way to increase the possibilities of their protection. This concerns the data centres of the state and regional network of hospitals, but also the IoT network and the like. The emerging and in a way also very dangerous trend is the use of AI attack systems.

Healthcare not only in the Czech Republic faces a growing risk of cyber-attacks. At the same time, the real threat of cyber-attacks on individual hospitals and a larger number of medical facilities is growing day by day. These places are increasing demands on the security of medical facilities. There is a lack of systemic and conceptual access of ensuring cyber security of both individual hospitals and the department as a whole. Discussion on how to use the shared infrastructure (CESNET e-infrastructure, hospital data centres, state and regional networks, regional technology centres…). This also applies to instrumentation (application of IoT). The contribution of the research is in the application of modern knowledge from the field of AI – Artificial Intelligence and ML – machine learning for the field of cyber security, Big-data and Clouds.

This sub-project is in line with the CIIRC research activity. Project give possibility to create expertise, research and laboratory platform in area of cyber security for industry and medical area too. It resonates with the prepared memorandum between MZČR, key hospitals and CIIRC.

This project is supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic within the programme National Centres of Competence 1: Support programme for applied research, experimental development and innovation.
