How are artificial intelligence and digital technologies transforming Czech industry, public services, and everyday life? How are they already being used by companies and the public sector? Five days, five discussion meetings, dozens of experts, and one major theme: the future of Czechia with artificial intelligence. This is “Digital Week with EDIH CTU – Focus on AI”, organised by the European Digital Innovation Hub at the Czech Technical University in Prague (EDIH CTU) and the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, CTU (CIIRC CTU), taking place from 8–12 September 2025. The series forms part of the nationwide initiative “Week for Digital Czechia”, coordinated by the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic.
Each day, Monday to Friday, from 9:30 to 11:30, registered participants can follow the discussions live on YouTube or attend in person in the unique environment of the RICAIP Testbed Prague at CIIRC CTU.
The moderator of all sessions will be Sara Polak, a science and technology populariser, who will lead an open morning dialogue with leading Czech experts from academia, industry, and the state administration. “AI is not just a tech novelty—it is a tool that changes how companies operate, how cities plan services and how Czech industry advances,” explains Sara Polak. “During the week, we will present a new way for you to engage actively in the AI transformation and influence where our country and business are heading.” She adds that her aim is to present digital transformation not only from a technological standpoint, but also within broader historical and societal contexts.
“Digitalisation is not only a technical discipline but part of a wider societal change. Our aim is, through specific examples already delivered, to inspire experts, companies and the public sector to embrace digital technologies to the full,” says Barbora Zochová, Director of EDIH CTU.
Three key themes will be in focus: the digital future of work, digital inclusion (ensuring the digital world is accessible to everyone) and digital technologies of the future. The programme will showcase concrete results, technologies, and services that companies and public institutions have recently deployed thanks to EDIH CTU, and will open a debate on their further development. Panellists will include experts from CIIRC CTU, the RICAIP European Centre testbed and cooperating CTU faculties, as well as partners from the National Centre for Industry 4.0, the National Centre for Construction 4.0, and the TEF AI-MATTERS network. Jan Kavalírek, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and Government Envoy for Artificial Intelligence, has also accepted the invitation and will join Friday’s block focused on Czech digital transformation in the European context.
“The event will be an excellent opportunity for an open dialogue on how the entire AI community can work together to create the best possible conditions in Czechia for the development and practical implementation of AI,” says Deputy Minister Jan Kavalírek. “I look forward to meeting experts from research, industry and the public sector—their inputs are always highly valuable when setting the strategy for AI development and supporting related innovations.”
Guests sharing their experience with AI and innovation will include, from CIIRC CTU, for example, Jan Šedivý, a specialist in large language models, conversational AI and human–robot interaction, and Radoslav Škoviera, who studies how robots understand and learn from human instructions. Pavel Burget, Director of the RICAIP Testbed Prague, will bring insights from deploying AI in industrial enterprises. Industrial practice will also be discussed by Benjamin Przeczek and Jakub Szlaur from the Czech-Moravian Centre for Breakthrough Technologies, founders of the start-up Edmund. Ondřej Beránek will share practical experience of AI in real projects and innovation, stemming from the Czech office of the European network AI MATTERS. Petra Stupková from the law firm Legitas will provide the legal and regulatory perspective. The breakfasts will also introduce novelties prepared for the second phase of EDIH CTU—from next year, the AI Helpdesk will also offer support on the new European AI Act.
“Since its foundation, EDIH CTU has become an important partner for Czech companies and public institutions. Within the hub, CIIRC CTU has delivered services worth millions of Czech crowns and significantly contributed to the total volume of services provided by the EDIH CTU partner teams. Crucially, the EDIH concept has proven exceptionally effective, bringing rapid and useful solutions. The Week for Digital Czechia is an ideal opportunity to showcase what we have achieved and how we can help Czechia in the next phase of digitalisation,” says Vladimír Mařík, Scientific Director of CIIRC CTU, who will, inter alia, take part in Wednesday’s programme, adding: “We have the prerequisites, experience and expertise of CIIRC and CTU teams to do so.”
EDIH CTU is a European Digital Innovation Hub coordinated by CTU that supports companies and public institutions in adopting digital technologies, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Since 2023, it has provided services worth tens of millions of Czech crowns and has helped dozens of clients leverage modern digital solutions.
