Based on the result of the secret election, the Council for Research, Development and Innovation (RVVI) recommended to the government to award prof. Ing. Vladimír Kučera, DrSc., Dr. h. c. Česká hlava Prize for the year 2021, also for his fundamental contribution to the theory of automatic control on a global scale. The National Government Prize is awarded for extraordinary lifelong results in the field of research and development and is the most prestigious Czech scientific award.
Vladimír Kučera is currently the Deputy Director of CIIRC CTU, where he ia also a head of the Department of Scientific Management of Platforms. In the past, he managed the Institute of Information Theory and Automation of the Academy of Sciences or worked as a dean at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University and is the author of many scientific publications.
„It is a great honor for me, it is the highest award that a scientist can receive in the Czech Republic and I understand it not only as an award for my life’s work, but also as a motivation for many years to come,“ says Vladimír Kučera in response to the news.
V. Kučera’s research activity falls into the field of analysis and synthesis of control circuits. He contributed to the theory of Riccatio’s equation and is one of the pioneers in the use of polynomial equations in the design of control circuits. Its best-known result is the parameterization of all regulators that stabilize a given system, known as the Youla-Kučer parameterization. Recently, he has solved a long-open problem – non-interactive control of linear systems with many inputs and many outputs using static state feedback.
