We have completed another meeting of scientific departments and teams aimed at strengthening collaboration and presenting all research teams and the best results achieved at CIIRC over the past year 2024. The CACORR – CIIRC Annual Colloquium on Research Results took place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, in the Red Lecture Hall of our institute’s building. We would like to thank Professor Zdeněk Hanzálek, Head of the Industrial Informatics Department, for organizing the event.
The meeting was opened with a brief introduction by our scientific director, Professor Vladimír Mařík, who spoke about the direction, challenges, and future of our institute. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of collaboration, research funding, technology transfer, and the effort to maintain the institute’s excellence.
Professor Vladimír Mařík addressed key areas influencing the current and future direction of CIIRC. He highlighted the wide range of CIIRC’s activities, spanning from excellent research to practical applications in industry, and the importance of involvement in European Centers of Excellence.
He also discussed the issue of sustainability and modernization of research infrastructure, which represents one of the main challenges for CIIRC. He stressed the need to seek new funding sources and actively participate in national and European grant programs.
“In June 2025, another evaluation of universities by the International Evaluation Panel will take place after five years. Our goal is once again to defend the ‘excellent’ rating that we obtained in 2020,” said Vladimír Mařík in his opening speech before the CACORR workshop.

In conclusion, Professor Mařík called on the attending researchers to actively engage in grant opportunities and support industrial projects. He expressed his hope that the institute would maintain its role as a leader in innovation and technological development. He ended his speech by thanking the participants and expressing his belief that CIIRC will continue to be a key player in scientific research and technology transfer. This workshop should serve as a starting point for achieving even better results in 2024.
Each session was opened by the group leader, who briefly introduced the projects selected for presentation and showcased the results from the past year. Subsequently, individual researchers presented their joint projects for 2024 in detail.

11:50 – 11:59 Martin Macaš: Transforming Waste Management: Advanced Tools for Detection, Forecasting, and Optimization The project, set to conclude in September 2025, is already improving waste management in Prague with an application that identifies anomalies in container fill-level time series, validates automated detections, and optimizes collection schedules to reduce costs and enhance ecological and citizen benefits. It also provides forecasts for dynamic planning using heuristics, machine learning, particle swarm optimization, and ARX models. Currently used by municipal experts, the tool supports collaboration with waste collection companies and sensor providers while enabling testing and refinement of methods for integration into the GOLEMIO system. – Application result
11:59 – 12:08 Václav Jirkovský, Martin Jílek, Petr Kadera: Automating the process of special car equipment weight increments specification – Škoda Auto. The weight increments are computed for PR number families, independent of the weight key. PR numbers, families, and conditions in the form of implications using PR numbers (also known as Regels) form MBT system. SAT model of MBT system was proposed and implemented to decide about the independence of families and also the admissibility of the PR number combinations defining unambiguously a car. This solution speeds up the overall process, makes weight increments more accurate, and fully automates the previously manual process. – Application result
