Professor Stefan W. Hell, the Nobel Prize winner for chemistry in 2014, visited CTU as part of HISE program (Honeywell Initiative for Science & Engineering) on 7 and 8 November, 2017. One of his stops was also CIIRC CTU.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2014 was awarded jointly to Stefan W. Hell, Eric Betzig and William E. Moerner „for the development of super-resolved fluorescence microscopy“.

Because of his interest in research institutes of CTU he had a chance to visit laboratories at CIIRC CTU of Prof. Václav Hlaváč (deputy director of CIIRC; head of the Center Machine Perception spanning Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU and CIIRC CTU) and Libor Přeučil (head of Intelligent and Mobile Robotics Lab (IMR) at CIIRC CTU).
