Autonomous robots (systems) serve as the unifying theme in the RMP department. An autonomous robot can sense its world, perceive it, understand substantial objects in it, and explore this understanding for reasoning, decision-making, and planning actions fulfilling a task usually assigned from outside. On the perception side, we deal mainly with computer vision, force/torque compliance, tactile sensing, and the cognitive approach to human-robot collaboration. Mobile robots and teams of mobile robots are in our range of interests too. Decision-making, planning, and exploring algebraic/geometric tools are also researched in the RMP department. We also apply algebra, geometry, statistics, and optimization to computer vision, robotics, and machine learning. Our research also deals with chemical, biological, radiation, and nuclear aspects, which induce robotics and other applications in particular environments, also for using robots in radiopharmacy, security, and defense. We have also adopted our research and development results in other application domains.
