T-Mobile is fundamentally expanding its cooperation with the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC) of the Czech Technical University and brings a strong international dimension to it. The parent group Deutsche Telekom has made CIIRC ČVUT as its partner centre for applied research in Industry 4.0. The signing of the memorandum took place today on the occasion of the visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to CIIRC CTU.

Thanks to T-Mobile, CIIRC CTU became one of the first academic workplaces in Europe with its own 5G SA campus network at the beginning of August. Today’s Memorandum of Cooperation means the establishment of a joint laboratory within the Testbed for Industry 4.0, which will support the development of a research and experimental environment with an emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises and startups. At the same time, the laboratory becomes (after Berlin, Tel Aviv and Krakow) the fourth center of Hubraum, the technological incubator of the Deutsche Telekom Group. Within the incubator, the Prague laboratory CIIRC CTU and T-Mobile should cover the area of Industry 4.0.

With today’s signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation, T-Mobile confirms its commitment to participate in the development of modern scientific development and research in the Czech Republic. As part of the Testbed for Industry 4.0, it will cooperate with CIIRC CTU on projects supporting the digital transformation of small and medium-sized companies using the latest technological trends and innovations. He wants to focus primarily on strengthening the competencies of start-ups and companies in the areas of production data processing, image processing, artificial intelligence and virtual and augmented reality. All this will be made possible by the launch of the first purely 5G private campus network, the so-called Stand Alone, which, compared to the previous Non Stand Alone version, already makes full use of the possibilities of the new generation network.

T-Mobile is also a partner of the National Centre for Industry 4.0, which connects the academic environment with industrial companies and has its headquarters at CIIRC CTU. The connection of Testbed for Industry 4.0 with private mobile networks opens up new opportunities for intensive cooperation and especially for efficient transfer of knowledge to industry.

„CIIRC CTU has long been a driver of innovation and supporting the transformation of Czech industry is one of its long-term goals. Our scientific expertise is supported by strong industrial partners who not only support our visions, but further develop and implement them. I am pleased that the cooperation with T-Mobile has broadened and, with the signing of the memorandum, it is also gaining international significance,“ says Ondřej Velek, director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics CTU.

Hubraum, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, of which T-Mobile is a part, took over the auspices of this cooperation. The goal of Hubraum is to connect start-ups with a leading European telecommunications company and thus support the transfer of innovation, know-how, as well as financial support for companies in the field of 5G technologies, artificial intelligence and IoT.

„I am very happy that we can build a top scientific workplace alongside a strong partner in the academic field, which undoubtedly CIIRC CTU is, which, thanks to the latest technologies, will help to develop young talents and test new solutions. Within Testbed for Industry 4.0, we want to offer start-ups and small and medium-sized companies the use of expertise to take advantage of our team’s knowledge and competence, which will help them accelerate their digitization, research and development,“ says José Perdomo Lorenzo, CEO of T- Mobile Czech Republic and Slovak Telekom, and adds: „Supporting the transformation of the Czech Republic into Industry 4.0 is one of the key priorities of T-Mobile, which we are fulfilling thanks to our cooperation.“

As a mobile operator, T-Mobile launched the first 5G Stand Alone private mobile network in the Czech Republic and in Central and Eastern Europe within Testbed. T-Mobile will continue to operate and develop this network in cooperation with CIIRC according to the needs of the agreed activities.
