Focus:
The project aims to develop and test a digital application for testing and training the cognitive abilities of seniors aged 65+, who are most at risk of cognitive or mental disorders (dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, …). The most important outcome of the application will be to highlight the possibility of an emerging cognitive disorder and furthermore to try to slow down the further development of the disease by means of various mental exercises, thus improving the quality of life of the tested client and reducing the difficulty of his/her care.

Project Objectives:
The main goal of the project is to enable the extension of healthy life expectancy and increase its quality for the inhabitants of Prague and thus the Czech Republic by actively supporting the prevention of the most common neuro-degenerative diseases through a newly developed software system for testing and training cognitive abilities. The project will design, develop and test an application containing a set of software tests for basic cognitive function testing on PC and tablet. The tests will allow to quantify current performance in the following areas: attention and concentration, short and medium term memory, basic executive functions and selective attention (stroop), pattern recognition ability. In addition, a set of cognitive tests and games will be developed that can be used by clients of social institutions for both ongoing training of cognitive functions and for self-testing of their own performance. The software tool will include an environment for communication between the client/patient and his/her treating physician from a remote specialized office focused on cognitive problems.
