On the occasion of the official visit of the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Mrs. Markéta Pekarová Adamová to the Republic of Armenia and Azerbaijan on 31.1.-2.2. 2024, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic and our embassies in Yerevan and Baku, an entrepreneurial and academically oriented program was also organized.

Ondřej Velek, CIIRC CTU Director, took part in the trip as part of accompanying the parliamentary delegation, together with representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

During the one-and-a-half-day program in Yerevan, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Czech IT companies had the opportunity to visit important Armenian IT companies such as ServiceTitan or Rendeforest, participated in a meeting with the academic community as part of negotiations at the Armenian State University and the Armenian Polytechnic University, visited specialized research facilities Yerevann Lab, met with the management and members of the largest IT professional organizations in Armenia – UATE (Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises) and UEICT (Union of Employers of Information and Communication). UEICT President Mr. Armen Baldryan invited Czech IT companies and representatives of the Czech Republic to participate in the Silicon Mountains Tech Summit conference, which will take place in Yerevan on November 15, 2024.

Thanks to the cooperation with our embassy, it was possible to prepare a completely individual program in Baku exactly according to the interests of CIIRC CTU. „The most interesting meeting for us was with Mr. Fariz Jafarov, director of C4IR Azerbaijan (Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution),“ said Ondřej Velek. “I was surprised by how much emphasis the Azerbaijani government places on the transformation of its industrial production, and that it is far from just the mining industry. Although C4IR was only established in 2021, it is quickly catching up with other countries in this area. I offered them an early meeting in the Testbed for Industry 4.0 here at CIIRC and help to create a similar Testbed in Azerbaijan. Their priorities, such as the implementation of AI in advanced industrial production, the use of 5G industrial networks for machine communication in factories, are exactly what we are strong in. One of the possible new areas of focus for the CIIRC is their interest in the implementation of new methods in agriculture. We have recently discussed this interest with the Indian university NIMS. Here, CIIRC could use its experience with mobile robotics, image processing, but also with process optimization and planning.“

Another interesting meeting in Baku was with representatives of the Institute of Control Systems of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan, including the director of the institute icl. the Director Mr. Ali M. Abbasov. „Also here, there is an excellent opportunity for interesting cooperation for our institute,“ added Ondřej Velek.
