Abstract:

The project aim is enhancing machine tool application features due to integration of a laser device produced by the LaserTherm company. Integration means in this case to be able to control the additional laser device using the control system of the machine. The important activity will be creation of the specific functions for the CAM software. These functions would help to plan and generate the laser device tool path for applications of the laser-based additive manufacturing or the laser-based modification of the part surface (e.g. surface hardening or surface texturing). The following step is development of the postprocessing tool for creation and verification of the NC data for a specific production machine (machine tool or industrial robot). The control system of the production machine should be able to communicate with the laser device through fieldbus.
