The Werner von Siemens Award 2023 was won by Erik Derner

The Werner von Siemens Award 2023 in the category Best graduate thesis dealing with Industry 4.0 topics was won by Ing. Erik Derner from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, who, as part of the ELLIS Postdoc program, collaborates with the Machine Learning team at CIIRC CTU under the leadership of Robert Babuška. Erik Derner won the award for his work titled Effective Methods for Model Learning and Control in Robotics.

The dissertation „Effective methods for model learning and control in robotics“ was developed under the guidance of prof. Roberta Babuška, head of the Machine Learning group in the Artificial Intelligence department at CIIRC, within the Robotics for Industry 4.0 project. For this work, Erik Derner also received the FEL Dean’s Award for a prestigious dissertation last year.
