RICAIP: Research and Innovation Centre on Advanced Industrial Production is a two phase project under European Union’s Horizon 2020 call WIDESPREAD-04-2017-Teaming. The project coordinator and also the the principal investigator at CTU is Prof. Vladimír Mařík. The Phase 1 of the project No. 763559 had the aim to formulate the project proposal for the actual RICAIP project in its Phase 2. The Phase 1 run from September 2017 to August 2018.
RICAIP project partners are the Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT-CIIRC, coordinator), Brno University of Technology, CEITEC (BUT-CEITEC), Deutsches Forschungzentrum für Kunstliche Intelligenz (DFKI), Zentrum für Mechatronik und Automatisierungstechnik Geminnützige, GmbH (ZEMA). The project should run from 2015 to 2025.
If the proposal is successful, RICAIP Phase 2 unlocks the research and innovation capacity of CIIRC CTU and CEITEC BUT, by establishing a strong partnership with prominent German research organizations: DFKI and ZEMA, who jointly contribute to RICAIP by making their corefacilities available and enable RICAIP to operate in a distributed way. RICAIP will be established at CIIRC CTU as an international centre operating fully in English. RICAIP will significantly contribute to upgrading the Institute from the national Centre of Excellence (CoE) in areas of informatics, robotics, and cybernetics to the European CoE of artificial intelligence and industrial robotics for advanced industry. For this purpose, RICAIP will build and develop the very first distributed testbed for advanced industrial production (RICAIP Industrial Testbed Core) serving both academia and companies.
If the proposal is successful, EU will support RICAIP by almost €15 million (CTU €7.3 million, BUT €3.9 million, DFKI €2.5 million, ZEMA €1.9 million). The successful RICAIP 2 proposal will unlock additional funding from EU Structural Fund dedicated to the Czech Republic, i.e, €35.3 million, divided between BUT-CEITEC €13.8 million and CTU-CIIRC €21.5 million.
