The annual Researchers’ Night, when the doors of scientific and research institutes in Europe are opened to the public to see under the lid of the mysterious pot full of revolutionary ideas, is approaching, and the CIIRC CTU will once again be present at this event. This year, the event takes place on October 6, 2023, time 5-10 PM.
Across the disciplines of our institute, we have prepared a program for you and your children in the spirit of this year’s theme Mystery
1) Get into the secrets of Industry 4.0 operation
Our robotic factory opens its doors. What secret is hidden under the concepts of digitization, automation and inteligent robotics? Come and see RICAIP Industry Testbed 4.0 and get an idea of the principles of „smart factories“ of 21th century.
2) Play a game of DRAUGHTS (checkers) against a robot!
Play checkers against an unconventional opponent. Can you beat the robot in the classic board game?
3) Experience what it’s like to be ageing
Experience how your grandmother or grandfather feels in their body. What is it like when your back hurts and you can’t straighten up? How to sign with shaking hands. You will be able to empathize with the aging suit.
4) Have fun with the NAO robot
We present a combination of the NAO humanoid robot technology and the advanced ChatGPT language model. Thanks to the innovative conversion of speech to text and subsequently from text back to speech, NAO is able to conduct a conversation in the Czech language on a wide range of topics. This demonstration approximates the real and practical possibilities of applying current language models in the technological world.

5) The secret of 3D printing
How much work is involved in printing a probe that delivered a thousand LEGO figures into space? How to print a miniature of the Czech House for EXPO 2025 in Osaka? Come and learn more about the unconventional projects of our researchers.
6) Robotic Bartender
Discover the secrets of mixology with us and our robots. They will mix you a refreshing lemonade or prepare an excellent coffee.
7) The mystery of NeRF
Today, basically anyone can create a 3D model from photos using photogrammetry (which is used, for example, by filmmakers or computer game creators), and all they need is a mobile phone with a camera and a more powerful computer. We will show you something even more advanced, namely the NeRF (Neural Radiance Fields) method, which has literally caused a storm in the fields of computer vision and graphics in the last few years. NeRF uses neural networks that are first shown photos along with the locations from which they were taken, and are then able to generate photorealistic images of the model.
8) Virtual Reality
Do you want to see virtual city of future Miltown? Do you want to find out what it’s like to walk on the edge of a high-rise building or over a deep cliff? All this with our virtual reality.
9) The secret of baking
What’s behind a perfectly baked crispy croissant? Try it with us and come and taste it.
10) Mysterious EDIH
Do you want to learn how EDIH CTU helps the transfer of AI technologies into practice? How can SMEs and public administration use our services?
