Internship at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan

The local deadline at the CTU side is February 20, 2020.

CTU in Prague has been cooperating with the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) for 25+ years under a bilateral collaboration agreement. The cooperation and student exchange have been mainly with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and CIIRC at the CTU side. Václav Hlaváč is a person responsible contact person for the cooperation with TUAT. We have been collaborating with the Faculty of Engineering at TUAT and its Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering; Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

TUAT offers international students participation in STEP (Short-term Exchange Program), which is the one-year (or half-year) study and the research program opened also to CTU students. When applying for the STEP internship, students may apply for the JASSO scholarship, which would pay them JPY 80k per month to support their living expenses. Travel and other expenses should be paid by the student (or supported potentially by the department/research team, in which she or he works at CTU).

The deadline for the application is February 28, 2020. However, the application needs a recommendation from CTU and has to be sent by post. The parcel will travel for several days. CTU will approve three applications at most. Consequently, there will be a selection step at the CTU side. The selection committee will consist of (Dr. Ondřej Velek – chairman, he obtained his Ph.D. from TUAT; Ing. Karel Žebrakovský – an ex-Czech Ambassador to Japan; and Prof. Václav Hlaváč). We ask the applicants to submit their applications to Prof. Václav Hlaváč on February 20, 2020, at the latest. The application can be downloaded from the TUAT STEP program web.

We constraint the application to students of master and Ph.D. study programs. There is a preference for students having reasonable research program for their stay at TUAT. If the student does not have contact with teams at CTU cooperating with TUAT, let them call Prof. Václav Hlaváč on his mobile phone (+420 603 149 689) for hints and links to such teams. He will help the student to find a corresponding lab and a potential supervisor on the TUAT side. The student should be aware that not all topics are dealt with at the TUAT.
