Abstract:

The main objective of this seminar is to highlight the impacts of cloud computing on the evolution of data management systems. In this purpose, first, we summarise the contributions of cloud computing, in terms of introduced new concepts and the extension of software engineering, to data management systems. Next, based on the three most recent Cambridge, Seattle, and Beckman reports from the international database research community, we present a concise overview of some open problems and emphasise the strong influence of industry on the direction of research topics.

Key Words: Cloud Computing, Big Data, Data Management Systems, Multi-Tenant Parallel DBMSs, Resource Allocation, Elasticity,  Control Costs, High Performance, and Cost-Effectiveness.

Short Biography:
