Marik Center of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Cybernetics – that will be the name of the new scientific institution at the NIMS private mediacal and technical university in Jaipur, the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Its foundation stone was laid on March 23, 2023 in the presence of Professor Vladimír Mařík, scientific director of our institute, director Ondřej Velek and many other participants from among our scientists, representatives of University of Chemistry and Technology Prague and the Czech Embassy in India.
The festive occasion for this event was provided by the university assembly of NIMS University (National Institute of Medical Sciences), the so-called convocation (university convocation) held to mark the end of the academic year and the awarding of doctorates. Professor Vladimír Mařík was also awarded an honorary doctorate together with the Czech Ambassador to India H.E. Eliška Žigová and other personalities present.
We are truly honored that the scientific director and founder of our institute could personally participate in such an important event and thus contribute to the strengthening of cooperation in science and research between the two countries, which will take the form of joint projects, exchange of students and scientific workers.
The number of Indian students at universities in the Czech Republic is growing every year. In 2022, 1,500 Indian students were enrolled in the Czech Republic, compared to only 356 students in 2015. In the last seven years, the number of students from India has almost quadrupled. Indian students are increasingly interested in studying science and technical fields such as computer science, cybernetics and artificial intelligence. And these fields can be found at the CTU.
