On Friday, 27 September, our institute hosted the popular public event Researchers Night for several years. From 5 pm to 10 pm, crowds of people streamed in and delved into the secrets of computer science, robotics and cybernetics and the attendance once again broke records.
All visitors who came to the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics during the Night of Scientists,
- learned about radioactive transformation;
- chatted with the NAO robot, who even danced for them or told a few jokes;
- enjoyed a non-alcoholic beer or lemonade poured by our robot bartender;
play a game inspired by evolutionary algorithms; - saw a groundbreaking innovation – an automatically guided pallet truck;
- learned about our collaborative robotic workplace;
- tried out remote-controlled RC cars and teleoperations;
stave off hunger with delicious croissants baked in a smart Siemens oven; - saw if they can beat our robot at Checkers;
- tried out the Ageing Suit for themselves and found out that shaking hands doesn’t build a tower of blocks right away;
- played the computer game „Cookies and Lines“ and discovered the pitfalls of the internet;
- delved into the ins and outs of 3D printing;
- tried augmented reality;
- saw what we have in store for industrial companies in our RICAIP Testbed for Industry 4.0 – a flexible robotic line, conveyor robots, sorting robots and much more;
Thank you to all the visitors who came us at the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics and allowed us to reveal a little bit what science is going through a CHANGE. We firmly believe that you enjoyed your visit and that we managed to spark a spark of interest in scientific research in many of the little ones, as well as in those who are a bit bigger!
A big thank you also goes to all the teams from our institute who prepared a great program for the visitors – Testbed for Industry 4.0 team – RICAIP, , Cognitive Systems and Neuroscience department – COGSYS, Biomedicine and Assistive Technologies department – BEAT, Robotics and Machine Perception department – ROP, Intelligent Systems for Industry department – ISI, Energy 4.0 department – PS.
We look forward to seeing you again next year!
See you at the Night of Scientists 2025 at CIIRC!
