Ceny Wernera von Siemense již po sedmadvacáté získali nejlepší studenti, mladí vědci a pedagogové
The Czech Siemens awarded the Werner von Siemens Prizes 2024 to the best students, young scientists and teachers. The winning entries from the fields of engineering and science were selected by expert juries in the following categories. In the thesis and dissertation categories, the supervisors and supervisees of the theses and dissertations are awarded along with the students. Awards were given for excellence in female research and for graduate theses on Industry 4.0 and smart infrastructure and energy.
The members of seven expert juries evaluated a total of 598 applications, 20 winners were awarded prizes worth a total of one million crowns. Women submitted a record 37% of the applications and represent 25% of the award winners. Since the beginning of the competition, CZK 17.4 million has been distributed among 490 winners.
The first place in the number of awards went to the Czech Technical University in Prague (8 awards), followed by the Brno University of Technology (5 awards), the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (3 awards), Tomas Bata University in Zlín (2 awards) and Masaryk University and the Technical University in Liberec (1 award each).
Strong representation of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics
Our institute was also strongly represented, with representatives of the institute being awarded in categories focused mainly on Industry 4.0. For the best diploma thesis on Industry 4.0, which is entitled Collaboration of human and robot with respect to uncertainty using planning and reactive control, was awarded to Ing. Marina Ionova from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague under the supervision of Dr. Jan Behrens from our institute (from the machine learning team). It was Marina Ionova (a former researcher) who was awarded the prize by our scientific director Prof. Vladimír Mařík.
The second place in the category of TOP 10 diploma theses on the topic of Industry 4.0 went to Ing. Ondřej Švec under the supervision of Ing. Tomáš Jochman with his diploma thesis on Robotic Object Manipulation in Virtual and Physical Environment.
The prize for the Best Master Thesis on Smart Infrastructure and Energy was awarded to Ing. Petr Stejskal, Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Electrical Engineering with the topic Simulator of Hybrid Power Source under the supervision of doc. Přemysl Šůcha, head of the industrial informatics team from our institute.
